announces auditions for

Seussical™

The powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community emerge triumphant in this show that lovingly brings to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie, and of course, Jojo, the little boy with a big imagination. Oh, the thinks you can think!

Open to adults ages 16 to 60. Roles will be cast with age-appropriate participants.

Audition information:

  • Please prepare a Broadway music selection to sing (do not sing a song from Seussical™). Bring a copy of the music for the accompanist. No a cappella singing or taped accompaniment.
  • Please wear comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear for the dance audition.

Rehearsals:

  • Rehearsals begin Monday, January 4, 2010 at 7 p.m.
  • Regular rehearsals are Monday through Thursday evenings, from 6-11 p.m.
  • Seussical opens Friday, February 19 and runs weekends through Sunday, February 28, 2010.

NEW! Pre-audition workshops offered

for ECC Theatre’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream

 WHAT:                       Elgin Community College (ECC) Theatre is hosting two free workshops for participants wishing to audition in the spring production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, William Shakespeare’s most popular comedy.

 WHEN:                       Participants can attend one of two sessions: Monday, Nov. 16, 7 to 10 p.m. or Monday, Nov. 30, 7 to 10 p.m.

WHERE:                      At the Visual and Performing Arts Center of the ECC Main Campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, in Room VPA 284D.

 WHY:                          Conducted by Mary Hatch, experienced actress, director of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and dean of ECC’s Liberal, Visual and Performing Arts division, these workshops demonstrate basic audition techniques and offer tips on acting in Shakespearean plays.

 REQUIREMENTS:       Participants should familiarize themselves with A Midsummer Night’s Dream prior to attending the workshop.

Auditions for A Midsummer Night’s Dream

are scheduled from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3 and from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5. Callbacks are tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 9 and Thursday, Dec. 10. Complete audition details will be posted soon.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream opens Friday, April 23 and runs weekends through Sunday, May 9.

NOTE: Because of construction on Spartan Drive from McLean Boulevard west to Renner Drive, motorists may use either Fleetwood Drive or Weld Road to Second Street.
